Cortex Code in Snowsight changelog¶
This page documents notable changes to Cortex Code in Snowsight.
September 2026¶
| Date | Feature | Phase |
|---|---|---|
| Sep 29 | Effort level selection for models | GA |
| Sep 24 | Approval modes (Default approvals / Bypass approvals) | GA |
| Sep 9 | Restrict this chat (restricted session scope) | GA |
Effort level selection¶
The model selector now includes an Effort option. For models that support it, such as Claude Opus 5, you can choose Low, Medium, or High to control how much reasoning the model does before it responds. Your choice is saved for each chat. For details, see Change the effort level.
The model list is also reorganized: Auto options appear first, followed by one entry for each model family, with older versions under Other models.
Approval modes¶
The CoCo side panel now includes an approval-mode selector next to the message box:
- Default approvals: CoCo asks you to approve each tool call. You can allow a single call, allow the tool for this chat, or always allow that tool.
- Bypass approvals: CoCo runs tool calls without individual prompts. Your Snowflake privileges and restricted session scopes still apply.
New conversations start on Default approvals. If you choose Bypass approvals, Snowsight remembers that choice for later conversations in the same browser. The Home composer does not include this selector.
To hide the selector and disable Bypass approvals for an account, set
COCO_SNOWSIGHT_ALLOW_ALL_PERMISSION_OPTIONS_DISABLED
to TRUE:
This also hides Allow <tool> in this chat and Always allow <tool> on individual consent prompts. Users must approve each tool call individually.
Restrict this chat¶
You can apply a Restricted Session Scope (RSS) to an individual CoCo chat. Select +, then Restrict this chat to apply read-only access or restrict the chat to selected roles. The restriction can only narrow the access allowed by your roles and any administrator-enforced RSS.
For instructions, see Restrict a chat.
